FALL IN INDOOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT

OCTOBER 2-3, 2009

ELIGIBILITY

1.       Each player must be listed on the current Tournament team roster.  All roster additions must be declared before the start of each team’s second Tournament game.  A team’s failure to do so may result in the following:  loss of points for that game and/or disqualification from the Tournament.

2.       Each player must be 18 years of age or older as of OCTOBER 2, 2009.

3.       A player may not play for more than one (1) team.

4.       6 players (including goaltender) per team are permitted on the floor at the same time.  The co-ed rule is in effect for this Tournament – each team must have a minimum of two (2) females/males on the floor at all times.  Failure to comply with the co-ed rule may result in the following:  loss of points for that game and/or disqualification from the Tournament.

5.       The penalty for playing one (1) or more Tournament games with an ineligible player(s) may be: loss of points for that game and/or disqualification from the Tournament.

TIME/STANDINGS

1.       Each game will consist of two-25 minute halves (non-stop time) with a three minute intermission between halves.  During Playoff games, the final two (2) minutes of the second half will be ‘stop-time’ if the goal difference is two (2) goals or less.

2.       A ten minute default rule will be enforced.  Therefore, each game must start within 10 minutes of the scheduled game start time (game time will be adjusted accordingly).

3.       All round robin games may end in a tie.

4.       Semi-Final/Final Playoff Games – if the score is tied after regulation play a penalty shots will occur (goaltender may only be changed prior to start of penalty shots).  Each team will select five different players for the penalty kicks, players may be selected from the bench, two of which must be female/male.  The teams will alternate kicks until all ten players have taken one shot – goaltenders may shoot.  The team to score the most goals will win.  If still tied, additional kicks (i.e. after the 5 vs. 5) shall be taken by players who did not attempt any of the first five kicks (i.e. 1 vs. 1).

5.       Points will be allotted in the following manner: win = 3 pts; tie = 1 pt; loss = 0 pts.

6.       In the event of a tie in the standings, the following tie-breaking procedure will be followed:

a.       The team which prevailed during the round robin play;

b.       Goal differential (goals for (+) minus goals against (-));

c.       Least Goals against;

d.       Most Goals for;

e.       Coin toss.

GAME RULES

1.       Substitutions/Uniforms/Equipment:

a.       Only players and team managers/coaches may be on the player’s bench.

b.       Players may substitute at any time during the game.

c.       Goaltenders may substitute only during stoppages of play (i.e. after a goal, or if the team requesting the substitution has possession of the ball for a free kick).

d.       Each goaltender must wear a colored jersey that is distinctive from teammates and opposing players.

e.       Each team must wear jerseys that are distinctly different from their opponent.  In case of a jersey conflict, the Visiting team must change their jerseys.

f.         The wearing of shinguards is mandatory (players not wearing shinguards WILL NOT be allowed to play).

g.       Hats or caps may not be worn while on the playing surface.

h.       Remove/cover all jewelry/watches prior to entering the playing surface.

i.         Any player with a cast or splint (of any type) will not be permitted to play.

2.       Administrative Rules:

a.       There are no offsides in this version of Indoor Soccer – three-line pass rule is in effect.

b.       There are no time penalties in this version of Indoor Soccer.

c.       Each team has a maximum of 5 seconds to put the ball into play from a free kick or goal kick.

d.       The ‘penalty area’ is appropriately marked.  Standard FIFA rules apply to any infraction committed within the penalty area.  (REMINDER:  all free kicks are direct.)

e.       Dead Balls:

1.       whenever the ball leaves the playing surface.

2.       Restart after a dead ball – ‘kick in’ from the appropriate area on the playing surface.

3.       Minor Infractions/Fouls:

a.       Jumping the boards during a substitution is an automatic yellow card.

b.       A goal cannot be scored by a goaltender throwing the ball directly into the opposing team’s net.  (Rule:  possession to goaltender, goal kick.)

c.       Pass Back Rule (to goaltender) – this rule will remain consistent with standard Outdoor FIFA rules and penalized accordingly.

d.       Slide tackles are not permitted; this is for the safety of all participants.  (Penalty:  free kick to non offending team.) (Exception: goalie is allowed to slide tackle in his/her crease)

4.       Major Fouls:

a.       Any player ejected from a game for violent conduct, abusive language or unsporting conduct will be assessed an automatic (and minimum) one (1) game suspension.  Each incident will be reviewed by the Tournament Coordinators.

b.       Any player(s) ejected from a game must leave the playing surface and player’s bench immediately.  Play will not resume until the player(s) involved are absent.  The team manager/captain is responsible for ensuring the player(s) involved leaves the area.

c.       Any player(s) accumulating three (3) yellow cards throughout the duration of the Tournament will receive an automatic (and minimum) one (1) game suspension.  Each incident will be reviewed by the Tournament Coordinators.

d.       A team will play at full strength even though a player(s) is/are ejected from the game.

WINNING IS NOT EVERYTHING - PARTICIPATE AND HAVE FUN!!
